In
general, cough is normal because it helpful to keep throat clear from phlegm
but sometime it prolong to weeks and month than it is serious to treat as soon
as possible.
If cough
treat in a start than we protect from many serious diseases, otherwise minor
cough disturb our other system.
There
are many reasons of cough like allergy, viral or bacterial infection, and daily
imbalance in food.
There
are many over the counter medicines available to treat the cough but sometime
we prefer to take natural and homemade easy solution.
Homemade
remedies give no side effect. These ingredients not help in cough treatment but
also helpful to boost our body system.
You
can make easily these all recipes at home. These remedies are;
1) Honey and lemon tea
According
to recent studies, honey is best natural remedies for cough as compared to over
the counter drugs. It give soothe effect.
Ingredients:
- Honey: 2 tbsp.
- Lemon juice: 1 tbsp.
- Warm water: one cup
Method:
Add
honey and lemon juice in water.
Advice:
You
can made fresh or restore for 24 hours.
It is
suitable for all ages but don’t give to less than one year old child
2) Ginger tea
Ginger
have anti-inflammatory properties so it reduce inflammation from throat.
It also
give relieve from nausea and pain.
Ingredients:
- Fresh Ginger: 2-4 slices
- Lemon juice or honey: 1 tbsp.
- Warm water: one cup
Method:
Add
ginger slices, lemon juice or honey in warm water.
Keep
it for five minutes than use.
Advice:
Sometime
ginger cause heart burn and stomach upset so avoid to give less than five year
old child and stomach ulcer patients.
3) Peppermint tea
Peppermint
leaves have menthol which helpful in soothes the throat and breakdown mucus.
Ingredients:
- Fresh peppermint leaves: 3-5 leaves
- Warm water: one cup
- Honey: 2 tbsp.
Method:
Add
all ingredients in warm water and use after five minutes.
Other
method: you can boil peppermint leaves and water for five minutes for best
results.
Advice:
Peppermint
tea is not suitable for less than five years old child, it may cause breathing
difficulties
4) Marshmallow root tea
Marshmallow
roots and leaves are used for cough and it is helpful in sore throat and cough.
Ingredients:
- Marshmallow roots: 1 tbsp.
- Warm water: one cup
- Fresh peppermint leaves: 3-5 leaves (optional)
Method:
Add
Marshmallow roots, peppermint leaves in warm water.
Stay
cool for five minutes than drink
Advice:
There
is no studies present for use of Marshmallow roots for infants and child so
better is to avoid.
5) Thyme leaves tea
Thyme
leaves contain flavonoids which help to relieve cough and inflammation.
Recent
studies, shows that thyme leaves are best for short term bronchitis.
Ingredients:
- Thyme leaves: 2 tbsp.
- Boil water: on cup
- Honey: 1 tbsp.
Method:
Boil
thyme leaves and water for10 minutes, after cool add honey for taste.
Other
method: take one boil water cup, add thyme leaves and place for ten minutes
than add honey.
Advice:
There
is no clear studies present for use of thyme tea for child or infants.
